How I deal with spam
Some people would have you believe that the best way to deal with email spam
is to 'just delete it'. While that is certainly quick, it does nothing to
address the source of the problem.
I use SpamCop to
report the spammers and get their accounts closed! It can be free, but
I prefer to pay for an annual mail account so I can report this scourge on
my inbox. I get a nice warm feeling when I hear about a spammer getting closed
down.
You might not want to do that, though, and the decision to 'join the fight'
is entirely up to you. However, if you do not fight it, it will eventually drown
you.
An easier solution is to purchase and run iHateSpam software from Sunbelt
Software. Just click the banner ad above.
What spam is not;
Spam is not a luncheon meat, in this case. The luncheon meat by Hormel is
SPAM, not spam. Confused? Don't be...
Go to the SPAM on the internet
web site to find out more!
NOTE: The following examples of spam are
actual spam emails that I have received. Some of them might contain 'live'
links, for display purposes only. DO NOT CLICK THESE
LINKS! You have been warned!
Examples of spam;
- Great and funny spam (a real funny
read(for *spam*))
- The penny st0ck spam (get rich quick?
NOT!)
- ("It's on the move") (Yeah, but
it's moving DOWN!)
- ebay 'phishing' spam ('fraud'
alert? Yeah, right!)
- more ebay 'phishing' (find the
spelling mistakes)
- PayPal phishing spam ('verify'
your account? NEVER!)
- PayPal 'phish' again (authentic
looking, but NOT!)
- 'Nigerian' Scam spam (Nigerian
'4-1-9' scams, et al.)
- CONGRATULATIONS spam (There's one
born every minute!)
- The $18,000,000 spam (People actually
fall for this)
- 'biggest' scam spam! (The BIGGEST
scam spam of all!)
- GOT to be kidding me (a joke?
the guy admits it's spam!)
- now I've seen it all (dog spam!
what's next?)
- amazon.com phishing! (amazon.com
phishing scam, pretty realistic, but still some tell-tale signs of idiocy by a
spamratbastardscammer, like using my email address as the salutation, and
grammatical errors. Hover your mouse pointer over the link, and carefully note
how the link address differs from the email link. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! Oh
yeah, that is one of my real email addresses. Send me some spam, and lose your
account and possibly get sued (and *definitely* LOSE!). You have been warned.
- foreign dating spam! (Beautiful
Russians who spam)
- Even more spam, updated occasionally. Please see the menu links to the
left. Some of these spams are well-done, but all are FRAUD.
DO NOT CLICK THE LINKS IN THE spam
EXAMPLES! (another warning...)
