Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware SE Personal (an old favorite, and recently updated)

 

Safer-networking.org’s Spybot S&D (also a favorite, and I love the name!)

 

Other software as was necessary to clean your machine.

 

Other settings on your machine may have been changed as well.

 

The above programs are either free or trial versions. You are urged to run these programs regularly (daily!) to maintain good computing health. In some cases, scheduled scans may have been set up to facilitate this. You are also urged to register (i.e., pay for) these new programs. PandA earns a small commission on the sale of Sunbelt Software’s CounterSpy, but no commission on Lavasoft’s Ad-Aware SE Personal or Safer-networking.org’s Spybot S&D. I have found these programs to be the best in helping remove and prevent spyware/adware/malware/crapware infestations. YMMV

 

In the event you had no antivirus software installed, it is highly recommended that you install one antivirus program immediately. DO NOT USE more than one antivirus program at a time on your machine! Disastrous results could occur. Completely uninstall any old software before installing new software (when changing programs). Updating your software does NOT require you to uninstall first. Call or email for recommendations.

 

Your machine is clean, and my work is guaranteed (If I can’t clean it, there’s no charge). I cannot be responsible for your computing habits, however, and reinfestation may occur. Please try to compute safely. A complete discussion of how this occurred to your particular machine will not be included in any email, due to sensitivity issues. You may call or we can visit and I can outline it for you if you wish.

 

Although I am very expensive, I am also very thorough. All reasonable care was taken to preserve your machine while cleaning any and all infestations, but as was previously stated some settings may have changed, and some software may have been installed. In the event that a complete re-installation of your operating system was necessary, you may have to reinstall software that was previously installed by you. In this case, the minimum charge is one hour ($75.00 business/corporate rate, $50.00 residential rate).
