Gold Star Mothers Charity Ride
Pam Foss met me at the DD in Danvers at 5AM. After we woke up the guys inside, I got an iced coffee and we managed to leave at 5:15AM. It was raining, but that just gave me a chance to try out my raingear. Those Frogg Togs that Arlene bought for me at Star Days are absolutely fantastic! They work great. We got to Danbury about 8:30 and met some other Star chapter members from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. We had a good time waiting for the whole crew to show up and we were about 65 bikes strong as we left the initial staging area in Danbury to head over to Mahopac, NY. The rain stopped, and we joined the rest of the bikes already staged at the Veteran's Memorial Park. After the ceremonies, we left for a police-escorted ride around some fantastic roads and beautiful countryside. We got back to the park and enjoyed some good grub and left with the Hartford Chapter about 4PM. We took some great back roads through Connecticut and then Pam & I broke off and headed north on I-91. I got home around 9PM, and I think Pam got home a little later than that. I know why they call her "FossRocket" now...

BTW, I had the largest amount donated; $525.00!

We hope you'll join us at our next chapter events;

Greetings Members and Friends!

Sunday, May 29th was our 5 Star Breakfast!

They came, they ate, they rode...

The Star 240 "5 Star Breakfast", held on the 5th Sunday of each month (that has 5 Sundays!) was a great success! To be quite honest, I really didn't have much hope for a lot of attendance at this brunch, but I'm glad I was wrong. Arlene & I were joined by Bob & Lillian, Pete & Pam, Chris, Kurt, and Paul & Kim Cote. Was I ever surprised when I saw 8 members of Rhode Island Star Chapter #353 come strolling in. Well, after a great brunch we went for a little ride through town. We stopped and got gas, and I handed out a couple of cigars. We thanked the Vets who were with us for their service. It's Memorial Day tomorrow, after all. That's why we have this holiday. We rode to the highest point within the city limits of Boston, but it wasn't actually in Boston. We rode past a house that's for sale for a mere $18 million. Anybody looking? Then we rode down to Quincy and turned up the Furnace Brook Parkway. We stopped for a 'photo op' near the Chickatawbut Overlook and continued to Dunkin Donuts in Mattapan. I took the boys down Walk Hill Street past my old house and then we headed out Washington St. Then, it started to rain a bit and we got pulled over by the USCG. After they inspected our PFDs, we were allowed to go. Many thanks to a great bunch of guys for a really good time! Let's do it again, anytime!

Join us at our next 5 Star Brunch; July 31st, and October 30th.

5th Sunday Brunch at the Hilltop steakhouse in Saugus on Sunday, May 29th!

Welcome to the DOPE (Dose Of Pat Email)!

Arlene & I wanted to thank you for dinner last night, as well as the
offer to transport our luggage as well as pick Arlene up @ the KCI
airport next Monday. You must allow us the opportunity to reciprocate by
buying you dinner @ Star Days next week.

Bob & Jo, it's easy to see why your group is so large, and successful.
You are 'fun' people, both of you. And that, my friends, is what it is
all about.

We are both looking forward to the trip, and our anticipation for the
good times we will have with you and everyone at Star Days this year, as
we did last year in Roanoke.

I hope you enjoy Anthony's handiwork and want you to share it with the
rest of your chapter. I think our 'Minister of Propaganda' has, once
again, done an excellent job.

BTW, Bob, I am typing this on my sidekick while sitting on the train on
my way to work. Handy little things, these sidekicks. And, they're not
just young men in tights anymore. "Holy handheld devices, Batman!"

See you in a week!

We are being held hostage in our hotel. NO Joke! There are two Missouri
State Police Troopers armed with M-16s leaning up against jody's new car
and my trailer with the two bikes inside. A man who has escaped from
jail was found in the Hotel in front of us and has hostages. The front
of our hotel has been evacuated and they are using our vehicle to hide
behind. We have snipers on the roof of our building, and we can't go to
the lobby. They just fired teargas into the windows and we are waiting
to see if he gets shot. Still 95 degress and they better not shoot my
car or GG will fly back here and kick some butt. This is NO Joke. Going
back to front windows. No DDob in am, planning on leaving at 5am. Call
GG for details.

-- midnightventure@verizon.net
The NE 661 for this yr has been reversed so that we will be going
clockwise south to north. There will be 2 meeting places to
accommodate all.

The first meeting place/time is at the Krispy Kreme in Saugus, MA
(intersection of Lynn Fells Parkway and route 1 S) at 7:30 am for a
prompt 8:00 departure. The second meeting place/time is at the
Home Depot in Boston, MA (exit 18 off of the Southeast
Expressway, at the South Bay Shopping Center) at 8:15 am for a
prompt 8:30 rolling starting (we will roll in, pick you up and roll back
out).

It will be highway to RI to make some time. The first stop will be
breakfast in Cumberland, RI at the Eggs-Up Family Restaurant.
Afterwards we head to Putnam, CT for gas/break. Then there will
be a long stretch to Sunderlund, MA for lunch at Bub's BBQ. And
afterwards, a short hop to the Yankee Candle in South Deerfield,
MA for a stop. Then it's off to Brattleboro, VT for gas/break. For
the next leg, there will be a break in Peterborough, NH on the way
to dinner at Hooter's in Manchester, NH. Afterwards we head to
Kittery, ME for the end of the ride at about 10:30-11 pm. I'm trying
to find someplace in Kittery for a stop such as ice cream or coffee.
But there is no Dunkin Donuts that I know of and the Dairy Queen
closes at 9. So maybe the McDonald's?

Anyways, it promises to be another full NE 661 ride. Anyone
interested in riding down to the Krispy Kreme start from NH w/me
can meet me in Seabrook at the Mobil gas station across the way
from Home Depot on route 1S at 6:45 am for a prompt 7:00
departure.

Keep an eye to the board for any updates/changes. I will be
watching the weather all week. For now the weather calls for high
70s/low 80s and pretty nice throughout the route w/spots calling for
20-30% chance of isolated T-storms.

Allen.

I am ashamed, once again, of a stupid small-town attitude in one of our
cities in Essex County.

I am calling for a BOYCOTT of the city and ALL BUSINESSES in Newburyport, by
ALL BIKERS, SUPPORTERS, AND FRIENDS.

I am calling for the removal of the chief of police, and the mayor. Officers
involved in this travesty should be suspended without pay for a month so
that they may brush up on the law.

Citizens of this backwards community should fear for their lives because the
police do not uphold the law, they MAKE IT UP.

I am asking everyone to join with me in support of Paul Cote, and bikers
everywhere. Read this account on bostonbiker.com;
http://www.bostonbiker.com/NewburyportYankee.htm, and JOIN THE BOYCOTT.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: ALL rides going north will TOTALLY CIRCUMVENT
NEWBURYPORT to avoid any chance meetings with this rogue police department
and their uniformed thugs. Also, this will ensure that NO MONEY AT ALL is
spent by us in Newburyport. Let's spend it elsewhere!

Regards,
Pat Rosenheim
