I'll get back to you. Right now we are making plans for April 17, 9:30 am
till the dealer closes. Possibly three rides. Each about 45 minutes to 1
hour long. leaving at 10:00, 1:00 and 4:00. Raffle drawings and door prizes
at 11:30, 2:30 and 5:30. BBQ grill will be going and the dealer is
auctioning bikes.
More info to be sorted out this and next week.

The Commomwealth  of Massachusetts has declared motorcycle awareness a
priority for all motorists.
To kick off the 2004 Motorcycle Riding Season,
Govorner Romney recently signed and delivered the following document:




PROCLAMATION FOR MOTORCYCLE SAFETY AWARENESS SEASON 2004

Whereas: A motorcycle is a motor vehicle and has the right to share the road
and;

Whereas: There is an absolute need for awareness and cooperation between
drivers of automobiles, trucks and motorcycles on our roadways to reduce
injuries and fatalities;

Whereas: A motorcycle is an energy efficient vehicle which effectively
reduces fuel consumption, and contributes to the lessening of traffic and
parking congestion, and is an increasingly popular means of transportation
for commuting as well as for touring and recreational uses, as evidenced by
245,000 licenses with the motorcycle designation on them and over 145,000
motorcycle registrations in 2003 and,

Whereas: All drivers must be aware that motorcycle riding season is upon
them and, in the effort to reduce injuries and fatalities on the
Commonwealth's roadways; and,

Whereas: Numerous organizations are committed to making the roads of the
Commonwealth safe for ALL motor vehicles, including the Registry of Motor
Vehicles, the Massachusetts Rider's Education Program, the Governor's
Highway Safety Bureau, the American Motorcycle Association, the Motorcycle
Safety Foundation, the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association, and many riding
clubs, groups, organizations, dealers and repair shops:
Now Therefore;

Be It Resolved: That the Massachusetts Senate hereby resolves that the last
week of March through to the last week of April, under the acronym
Motorcycle Awareness Really Can Help, be declared as Motorcycle Safety
Awareness Month, and the beginning of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Season,
with the intent to reduce injuries and fatalities on the Commonwealth's
roadways;

And be it further resolved: That copies of this Resolution be transmitted
forthwith by the Clerk of the Senate to the Registry of Motor Vehicles and
the Governor's Highway Safety Bureau, all other interested organizations,
and the rest of the State

Pioneer Valley RIMBY (UPDATE)

Hi everyone...
I just got back from "caging" the north and west sections of the ride. The
roads are generally great! There's a couple of rough patches on 112, up near
the Bryant Homestead. There is still snow on the road edges and plenty of
sand on the hills.  It's a narrow hilltown farm road area and we'll be
taking it easy and riding single file through there and I'm sure things will
be washed away by May.

116 is going to be awesome. Seriously twisterific! 66 is is good shape
except for that damn short bridge they've been working on for a couple of
years now. It's still one way at a time, with a temporary traffic light.
We'll manage it easy enough, but it will be a bit of a bottle neck. Might
need some blocking to get the whole group through in one shot. It's somewhat
remote there and we won't be much of a nuisance! :)

I located a place at the base of 112 that we can stretch our legs and/or
grab a cone before twisting down 116. It's a little Bart's Ice Cream place,
pretty much in the middle of nowhere! Order the small 'cuz we'll only be an
hour or so getting to Bub's Bar-B-Q. (Check Bub's out here:
http://www.bubsbbq.com )

  Just about 5 miles before Bub's, just after finishing 116S and merging with
5 and 10, we'll stop to fuel the tanks and use some proper facilities.

Last week I noticed a couple of mile section in Granby is a little rough,
not pot holes, just the top layer broken up in some sections. I'll watch
that road over the next few weeks.

It looks like we've hooked a few more NER'ds for the ride: GoldWingBob,
Agent Dave and Karen, Forrest and Holly, Massjet. As well, we'll likely see
some riding friends from the Star Chapters 240 and 291. Anthony and Pat from
240 and BobcatBob from 291 have shown interest in joining us, along with
some of their posse! And.....add Carol (GWLadyloracs) to the list of Wing
riders coming along!

I've talked to Deac Tiley, owner of Bub's, several times. He had no problem
with 25 just showing up. I will definitely keep him abreast of the looming
mob of, perhaps, double that. I went by on Saturday and they are in Spring
swing. Looked like about 10 covered picnic tables out on the lawn and a big
smoker "BBQ'n" away in the parking lot. I will definitely be looking for a
close head count about a week before the ride. They cater. I wonder if he'll
suggest that. I'll call them tomorrow to learn what they might suggest.

I'm still planning for you to take it easy and enjoy the ride on this one.
Official photographer, perhaps?! I've had several offers of assistance from
fellow NER'ds and the Star chapter riders. This is gonna be a blast! <BAG>

Andrew Swenson who died the day after his seventh birthday due to
