Massive Power Surge Halts Bike Show

The Northeast Motorcycle Expo at the Rockingham Park in Salem, NH was forced
to close a day early because of power outage.  The show was well attended on
Saturday, there were plenty of bikes entered in the bike show, the band, RB
Gunn was entertaining the attendees, and the Texas Bikini Team put on three
shows.  Motorcyclists have come to expect a quality show from Kev & Marv.
This weekend wasn't going to be any different. That is until a transformer
failed in the parking lot.  A couple of food service workers said that they
were getting out of their car around 8am when the transformer let go.  "It
was a loud explosion, quickly followed by two more loud bangs".  The two
other bangs were the electrical sub-station next to the building and the
emergency generator.



Without backup power the facility was shut down.  The track upstairs was
closed for the day and the bike show was cancelled.  As the vendors and bike
show participants arrived Kevin Clement explained to them the circumstances
and offered his apology.  What a class act!  He and his partner Marvin had
tens of thousands invested in the show and were going to be losing the most
out of everyone there.  Instead of complaining about their situation they
did everything they could to accommodate the vendors and owners of the show
bikes.  They quickly brought in buckets of coffee and bagels.



The power is expected to be restored to the track by Wednesday.

AMA New England Events is changing its planned Saturday, Feb. 21 rock, roll
and romance event at the Middleboro Elks to a "We're havin' a Party"
dance/victory celebration.  We'll still have Alan Himsey as "Simply Rod,"
(see www.SimplyRod.com) performing along with a Neil Diamond song performer.
TONS of food included, inexpensive drinks, and more info on getting your
ride/run event 'permitted' so your attendees can have 'choice!'  Proceeds
after expenses will be donated to the American Bikers Acting to Educate
