Pete,
I posted a couple of things on the yahoo Calendar for everyone to consider.
Feb. 15, chapter 239 is having a fund raiser Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale.
Feb. 29 is the LSB brunch at the Boston Street Cafe.
There is a ride and party at the chapter196 club house in May, I believe it is the 15th.
Chapter 196 is also hosting "The Roast on The East Coast"
July 9th through 11th.
BobCat Bob is hosting "BobCat's Bash" on August 28. This will be a party with BBQ and lots of family fun.
The January WOW and January LSB sites have not been designated yet, I will post when they are.
I also entered the Star Days travel and event days, Laconia Bike Week dates and I will find other dates to add for other rallies and rides.
Everyone can check the calendar to see if I forgot something here.

It was a dark, dreary, December night in Boston. I was rushing around
trying to get some last minute shopping done.

I was stressed out and not thinking very fondly of the Christmas season
right then. It was
dark, cold, and wet in the parking lot as I was loading my car up with gifts
that I felt obligated to buy. I noticed that I was missing a receipt that I
might need later. So mumbling
under my breath, I retraced my steps to the mall entrance.

As I was searching the wet pavement for the lost receipt, I heard a quiet
sobbing. The crying
was coming from a poorly dressed boy of about 12 years old. He was short and
thin. He had
no coat. He was just wearing a ragged flannel shirt to protect him from the
cold night's chill.

Oddly enough, he was holding a hundred dollar bill in his hand.

Thinking that he had gotten lost from his parents, I asked him what was
wrong. He told me
his sad story. He said that he came from a large family. He had three
brothers and four sisters. His father had died when he was nine years
old.His mother was poorly educated
and worked two full time jobs. She made very little to support her large
family.

Nevertheless, she had managed to skimp and save two hundred dollars to buy
her children
Christmas presents. The young boy had been dropped off, by his mother, on
the way to her
second job. He was to use the money to buy presents for all his siblings and
save just
enough to take the bus home. He had not even entered the mall, when an older
boy grabbed
one of the hundred dollar bills and disappeared into the night.

"Why didn't you scream for help?" I asked.

The boy said, "I did."

"And nobody came to help you?" I wondered.

The boy stared at the sidewalk and sadly shook his head.

"How loud did you scream?" I inquired.

The soft-spoken boy looked up and meekly whispered, "Help me!"

I realized that absolutely no one could have heard that poor boy cry for
help. So I grabbed
his other hundred and ran to my car.

Merry Christmas To All, and To All A Good Night!

Pat (Patrick E. Rosenheim) http://www.star240.com

A couple of new files exist on the yahoo site. I made them up to be sent
when a subscription is pending, and another when a subscription is
rejected. I did this because someone with an email address of
chopperboss04@yahoo.com wanted to join, but there was no info in their
profile. Since I don't know who it is, I rejected the subscription. In
light of recent events, I think that was a wise decision. If any of you
think differently, however, just let me know and I'll change the
policy.

The old man sat in his gas station on a cold Christmas Eve. He hadn't been
anywhere in years since his wife had passed away. He had no decorations, no
tree, no lights. It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas;
just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. There were no children in his
life. His wife had gone.

He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling for the last
hour and wondering what it was all about when the door opened and a homeless
man stepped through. Instead of throwing the man out, George, Old George as
he was known by his customers, told the man to come and sit by the space
heater and warm-up.

"Thank you, but I don't mean to intrude," said the stranger. "I see you're
busy. I'll just go"

"Not without something hot in your belly."

George turned and opened a wide mouth Thermos and handed it to the stranger.

"It ain't much, but it's hot and tasty. Stew. Made it myself. When you're
done there's coffee and it's fresh."

Just at that moment he heard the "ding" of the driveway bell. "Excuse me, be
right back," George said.

There in the driveway was an old 53 Chevy. Steam was rolling out of the
front. The driver was panicked.

"Mister can you help me!" said the driver with a deep Spanish accent. "My
wife is with child and my car is broken."

George opened the hood. It was bad. The block looked cracked from the cold;
the car was dead. "You ain't going in this thing," George said as he turned
away.

"But mister. Please help...."

The door of the office closed behind George as he went in. George went to
the office wall and got the keys to his old truck, and went back outside. He
walked around the building and opened the garage, started the truck and
drove it around to where the couple was waiting.

"Here, you can borrow my truck," he said. "She ain't the best thing you ever
looked at, but she runs real good."

George helped put the woman in the truck and watched as it sped off into the
night. George turned and walked back inside the office.

"Glad I loaned em the truck. Their tires were shot too. That 'ol truck has
brand new tires........"

George thought he was talking to the stranger, but the man had gone. The
thermos was on the desk, empty with a used coffee cup beside it.

"Well, at least he got something in his belly," George thought. George went
back outside to see if the old Chevy would start. It cranked slowly, but it
started. He pulled it into the garage where the truck had been. He thought
he would tinker with it for something to do. Christmas Eve meant no
customers. He discovered the block hadn't cracked, it was just the bottom
hose on the radiator.

"Well, I can fix this," he said to himself.

So he put a new one on.

"Those tires ain't gonna get 'em through the winter either."

He took the snow treads off of his wife's old Lincoln. They were like new
and he wasn't going to drive the car.

As he was working he heard a shot being fired. He ran outside and beside a
police car an officer lay on the cold ground. Bleeding from the left
shoulder, the officer moaned, "Help me."

George helped the officer inside as he remembered the training he had
received in the Army as a medic. He knew the wound needed attention.

"Pressure to stop the bleeding," he thought.

The laundry company had been there that morning and had left clean shop
towels. He used those and duct tape to bind the wound.

"Hey, they say duct tape can fix anythin'," he said, trying to make the
policeman feel at ease.

"Something for pain," George thought. All he had was the pills he used for
his back.

"These ought to work." He put some water in a cup and gave the policeman the
pills.

"You hang in there. I'm going to get you an ambulance." George said, but the
phone was dead. "Maybe I can get one of your buddies on that there talk box
out in your police car."

He went out only to find that a bullet had gone

into the dashboard destroying the two way radio. He went back in to find the
policeman sitting up.

"Thanks," said the officer. "You could have left me there. The guy that shot
me is still in the area."

George sat down beside him. "I would never leave an injured man in the Army
and I ain't gonna leave you."

George pulled back the bandage to check for bleeding.

"Looks worse than what it is. Bullet passed right through 'ya. Good thing it
missed the important stuff though. I think with time your gonna be right as
rain."

George got up and poured a cup of coffee. "How do you take it?" he asked.

"None for me," said the officer.

"Oh, yer gonna drink this. Best in the city." Then George added: "Too bad I
ain't got no donuts."

The officer laughed and winced at the same time. The front door of the
office flew open. In burst a young man with a gun.

"Give me all your cash! Do it now!" the young man yelled. His hand was
shaking and George could tell that he had never done anything like this
before.

"That's the guy that shot me!" exclaimed the officer.

"Son, why are you doing this?" asked George. "You need to put the cannon
away. Somebody else might get hurt."

The young man was confused. "Shut up old man, or I'll shoot you, too. Now
give me the cash!"

The cop was reaching for his gun.

"Put that thing away," George said to the cop. "We got one too many in here
now."

He turned his attention to the young man. "Son, it's Christmas Eve. If you
need the money, well then, here. It ain't much but it's all I got. Now put
that pee shooter away."

George pulled $150 out of his pocket and handed it to the young man,
reaching for the barrel of the gun at the same time. The young man released
his grip on the gun, fell to his knees and began to cry.

"I'm not very good at this am I? All I wanted was to buy something for my
wife and son," he went on. "I've lost my job. My rent is due. My car got
repossessed last week..."

George handed the gun to the cop. "Son, we all get in a bit of squeeze now
and then. The road gets hard sometimes ... but we make it through the best
we can."

He got the young man to his feet, and sat him down on a chair across from
the cop.

"Sometimes we do stupid things." George handed the young man a cup of
coffee. "Being stupid is one of the things that makes us human. Comin' in
here with a gun ain't the answer. Now sit there and get warm and we'll sort
this thing out." The young man had stopped crying. He looked over to the
cop. "Sorry I shot you. It just went off. I'm sorry officer."

"Shut up and drink your coffee." the cop said.

George could hear the sounds of sirens outside.

A police car and an ambulance skidded to a halt. Two cops came through the
door ... guns drawn.

"Chuck! You ok?" one of the cops asked the wounded officer.

"Not bad for a guy who took a bullet. How did you find me?"

"GPS locator in the car. Best thing since sliced bread. Who did this?" the
other cop asked as he approached the young man.

Chuck answered him, "I don't know. The guy ran off into the dark. Just
dropped his gun and ran."

George and the young man both looked puzzled at each other.

"That guy works here," the wounded cop continued.

"Yep," George said. "Just hired him this morning. Boy lost his job."

The paramedics came in and loaded Chuck onto the stretcher. The young man
leaned over the wounded cop and whispered, "Why?"

Chuck just said, "Merry Christmas, boy. And you too, George, and thanks for
everything."

"Well, looks like you got one doozy of a break there. That ought to solve
some of your problems."

George went into the back room and came out with a box. He pulled out a ring
box.

"Here you go. Something for the little woman. I don't think Martha would
mind. She said it would come in handy some day."

The young man looked inside to see the biggest diamond ring he ever saw.

"I can't take this," said the young man. "It means something to you."

"And now it means something to you," replied George. "I got my memories.
That's all I need."

George reached into the box again. A toy airplane, a racing car and a little
metal truck appeared next. They were toys that the oil company had left for
him to sell.

"Here's something for that little man of yours."

The young man began to cry again as he handed back the $150 that the old man
had handed him earlier.

"And what are you supposed to buy Christmas dinner with? You keep that, too.
Count it as part of your first week's pay." George said. "Now git home to
your family."

The young man turned with tears streaming down his face. "I'll be here in
the morning for work, if that job offer is still good."

"Nope. I'm closed Christmas day," George said. "See ya the day after."

George turned around to find that the stranger had returned.

"Where'd you come from? I thought you left?"

"I have been here. I have always been here," said the stranger. "You say you
don't celebrate Christmas. Why?"

"Well, after my wife passed away I just couldn't see what all the bother
was. Puttin' up a tree and all seemed a waste of a good pine tree. Bakin'
cookies like I used to with Martha just wasn't the same by myself and
besides ... I was getting a little chubby."

The stranger put his hand on George's shoulder.

"But you do celebrate the holiday, George. You gave me food and drink and
warmed me when I was cold and hungry. The woman with child will bear a son
and he will become a great doctor.

The policeman you helped will go on to save 19 people from being killed by
terrorists. The young man who tried to rob you will become a rich man and
share his wealth with many people.

That is the spirit of the season and you keep it as good as any man."

George was taken aback by all this stranger had said. "And how do you know
all this?" asked the old man.

"Trust me, George. I have the inside track on this sort of thing. And when
your days are done you will be with Martha again."

The stranger moved toward the door.

"If you will excuse me, George, I have to go now. I have to go home where
there is a big celebration planned."

George watched as the man's old leather jacket and his torn pants turned
into a white robe. A golden light began to fill the room.

"You see, George, it's My birthday. Merry Christmas."

Greetings!

Regarding setting up your discount for Cycles 128, I need;

Your name, address, telephone number, and email address to give to Cycles
128 to get you set up for the discount. I already have some of that, but I
need your 'okay' to give it to them. Send me that info by *private* email
(i.e.; DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL) and that will be your approval to give it
to them. The only requirement from Cycles 128 is that you give your phone
number to the parts person and they can look up and apply your discount to
*anything* you buy, including aftermarket accessories. DO NOT MENTION
"DISCOUNT" INSIDE THE STORE!

The discount is *very good*, and you are invited to shop around and compare.
You won't be disappointed! The discount varies according to the product
being purchased, but it is typically around 25% *of margin* for *Yamaha*
accessories, and often *more* for other accessories. So, get that info to me
and start saving!

Then, have Jason install those parts!

;-)

Star 240 site access on this Yahoo web site is retricted to STAR
MEMBERS ONLY.

It has been brought to my attention that some current members of
this site have received unsolicited email from non-members of STAR
TOURING. Therefore, I am sending this email as a SPECIAL NOTICE that
requires your immediate attention.

Please respond with your Star Touring membership number and your
name and location so that your access to this web site may be
verified.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Star 240 Webmaster

Any problems with replying or responding to this email should be
directed to STAR240-owner@yahoogroups.com

Also in a continuing effort to clean out our Yahoo! Groups
Star240 site we will be culling our membership. We are going to
clear out some of the listed members that either have invalid
email addresses or are just no longer interested. In order to
determine this we need everyone that is interested in remaining
a member of Star240 and staying on our Yahoo group mailing list to
respond back to this board stating so by December 20. You must
respond to this board by the deadline of 12/20 or you will be
removed from membership on 12/31. Thank you.

I'd like to try an experiment;

Go to the Yahoo site, and enter your info in the database. Let me
know if;
a) you can enter your info (you should be able to)
b) you can edit your info (you should be able to)
c) you can see anybody else's info (I don't know about this)
d) you can edit anybody else's info (you should NOT be able to)

The address for the Yahoo site is at the bottom of *every* message
for our group, but in case you miss it, here it is;

'Twas the nocturnal segment of the diurnal period preceding the annual
yuletide celebration, and throughout our place of residence, kinetic
activity was not in evidence among the possessors of this domicile, including
that species of domestic rodent known as illus musculus. Hosiery
was meticulously suspended from the anterior edge of the wood-burning
caloric apparatus, pursuant to our anticipatory pleasure regarding an
imminent visitation from an eccentric philanthropist, among whose folkloric
appellations is the honorific epithet of St. Nicholas.

The prepubescent siblings, comfortably ensconced in their respective
accommodations of repose, were experiencing subconscious visual
hallucinations of variegated fruit confections moving rhythmically through
their cerebrums.
My conjugal partner and I, attired in our nocturnal head coverings, were
about to take slumberous advantage of the hibernal darkness when upon
the evanaceous exterior portion of the grounds there ascended such a
cacophony of dissonance that I felt compelled to arise with alacrity
from my place of repose for the purpose of ascertaining the precise
source thereof.

Hastening to the casement, I forthwith opened the barriers sealing this
fenestration, noting thereupon that the lunar brilliance without, reflected
as it was on the surface of a recent crystalline precipitation, might be
said to rival that of the solar meridian itself--thus permitting my
incredulous optical sensory organs to behold a diminutive airborne
runnered conveyance drawn by eight bantam specimens of the genus Rangifer,
piloted by a minuscule, aged chauffeur so ebullient and nimble that it
became instantly apparent to me that he was indeed our anticipated
visitant. With his ungulate motive power traveling at what may possibly
have been a more vertiginous velocity than our patriotic alar predators,
he vociferated loudly, expelled breath musically through contracted
labia and addressed each of the octet by his or her respective cognomens--
"Now Dasher, now Dancer ... et alli--" while guiding them to the uppermost
exterior level of our abode, through which structure I could readily
distinguish the concatenations of each of the 32 cloven pedal extremities.

As I retracted the superior portion of my body from its erstwhile location,
and was performing an alacritous hemispherical 180-degree pivot, our
distinguished sojourner achieved--with utmost celerity and via a downward
leap--entry by way of the smoke passage. He was clad entirely in animal
pelts soiled by ebon residue from oxidations of carboniferous fuels
which had accumulated on the walls. His resemblance to a street vendor
I attributed largely to the plethora of assorted playthings which he
bore dorsally in a commodious cloth receptacle.

His orbs were scintillant with reflected luminosity, while his submaxillary
dermal indentations gave every evidence of engaging amiability. The
capillaries of his malar regions and nasal appurtenance were engorged
with blood which suffused the subcutaneous layers, the former approximating
the coloration of Albion's floral emblem, the latter that of the Prunus
avium,or sweet cherry. His amusing, sub-and supra-labials resembled nothing
so
much as a common loop knot, and his ambient hirsute facial adornments
appeared like small, tubular and columnar crystals of frozen water.

Clenched firmly between his incisors was a smoking piece whose gray
fumes, forming a tenuous ellipse about his occiput, were suggestive of a
decorative seasonal circlet of holly. His visage was wider than it was
high, and when he waxed audibly mirthful, his corpulent abdominal region
undulated in manner of impectinated fruit syrup in a hemispherical
container. He was, in short, neither more nor less than an obese,
jocund, multigenarian gnome, the optical perception of whom rended me
visibly frolicsome despite every effort to refrain from so being. By
rapidly lowering and then elevating the eyelid and rotating his head
to one side, he indicated that trepidation on my part was
groundless.

Without utterance and with dispatch, he commenced filling the aforementioned
appended hosiery with various of the aforementioned articles of merchandise
extracted from his previously aforementioned dorsally transported cloth
receptacle. Upon completion of this task, he executed an abrupt about-
face, placed a single manual digit in lateral juxtaposition to his
olfactory organ, inclined his cranium forward in a posture of leave-
taking, and forthwith effected his egress by reversibly renegotiating
the smoke passage. He then propelled himself in a short vector onto his
conveyance, directed a musical expulsion of air through his contracted
oral sphincter to the antlered quadrupeds of burden, and proceeded to
soar aloft in a movement hitherto observable chiefly among seed-bearing
portions of a common weed. But I overheard his parting exclamations,
audible immediately prior to his vehiculation beyond the limits of
visibility: "Ecstatic yuletide to the planetary constituency, and to the
selfsame assemblage, my sincerest wishes for a salubriously beneficial
and gratifying pleasurable period between sunset and dawn."

I just got home, I left Allen on 495 at 114...

We had a great time. I had a Reuben sandwich at the Bean along with NE Clam
Chowda. I love the picture hanging over the toilet in the men's room! We
passed a bank sign on Rt. 20 in Charlton that said it was 64 degrees!

What an awesome day!

I need a piece of cake...
