Thanks for clearing that up.

This election could go a long way toward showing other members how their opinions, and votes, count.

I think your heart is in the right place and your companionship is always appreciated as well.

We will continue to grow as a Chapter, with more involvement in Star Touring and Riding, by participation and visibility.

At this point in time, I can make that commitment, and foster relationships with other chapters and organizations.

This in turn will bring us new members with the same likes and desires.

Your commitment to the ideas of this chapter are not in question. You have been a friend to every member.

This is a personal decision on my part, having more to do with what would be best for this chapter at THIS point in time.

To all Chapter 240 Members:

With reference to the statement made by the Vice President as to "oversights" and bypassing or that the nominations were "breezed over or that this step was foregoed", the November meeting was for discussions only.

Further, I have received an e-mail from Anthony stating that he will be resigning as Vice President of Star Touring & Riding Chapter 240, Essex County, when the current term expires. Anthony will be asking for nominations by our members for the office of President of Chapter 240, for the year 2004.

I also wish all Members of our Chapter 240 to be aware that I too will be seeking the office of President. There will now be two (2) Members running for the office of President.

In conclusion, I wish all of the Members to be aware that when I was given the task of President, I took my job to heart in keeping this Chapter together. I, along with other Members of this Chapter, have careers and family obligations that required to be met but that does not mean that I do not have a strong committment to our Chapter. It has always been my intention for us to be one family of motorcyclists from which we gain experience from one another, as we come from all walks of life, careers, backgrounds and who bring to this club their special ideas to make this group one that is unique.

I ask for your nomination.

Last night I met Anthony and Pat for drinks and something to eat at the 99 in
Wilmington.
We all had a great time. I would like to recommend that we do more more of this
over the winter months. It is a great way to get to know everyone. It does not
have to be at the same place or same time. If you like this idea, send a message
to the group with a date, time and place to meet.

PS: We were talking about doing this again on Wednesday night November 26. The
day before Thanksgiving.

I think getting together on a regular basses through the winter is a great idea. I would love to host a get together my self. Unfortunately I will not be able to go on that Wednesday night because I am going to my mothers in up state New York for Thanksgiving. I think couple times a month sounds cool.

It has become apparent to me that there has been some web-bashing concerning my character, and my availability to members, that I find offensive.

I am a career and family man and still work for a living, but I am always available to anyone who wishes to discuss a topic. Unfortunately, I have not been privey to any topics, prior to the same being posted at this website.

I am presently the President but topics and questions and ideas, are not passing thru me prior to being posted on this website.

I would like everyone to be aware that I have seen this behavior in the past ,which led to the demise of the previous Chapter 150, and I will fight tooth and nail that this does not happen to this, risen from the dead, Chapter 240.

Any member may phone me at home or on my cell in the p.m. or leave a message and I will return the call as soon as possible.

And, ideas and topics should *NOT* "pass through" you prior to
posting here on this website. This website exists for the 'free
exchange' of members' ideas, not filtered or "passed through" anyone
for approval prior to posting.

Yesa, and part of what led to the demise of this chapter previously
was a stifling of the exchange that exists in a free democracy. The
previous president took it upon himself to dictate rather then
preside, and that is precisely what led to the chapter's demise.
That will not happen again. That is why we are having an election,
and also why we try to foster discussion here among the members, and
why trying to do things the way they are supposed to be done is a
good idea whose time has definitely come.

I'm not sure, I don't know much about feed the children, and that story

I have read this message and spoken to Pete and Ginny directly.

This is a public forum and it is not the place for sour grapes.

I may have posted some things here that could be taken as negative by some members.

My intention was to highlight the direction that I believe we should be heading.

I did not intend to bash or harm any individual. I'm sorry if it was taken as such.

This is a group effort and the group is entitled to information when they want it.

If any members have questions or ideas on how we should move forward and beyond these problems, let's hear from you.

It sounds like we are walking on some pretty thin ice right now. I know I have only been with you for a little while but I have seen this stuff take down many other clubs. It was what took down the last club I was in. I like being able to talk through e-mail but maybe we should have an emergency meeting to discuss what is on everyones minds and to know where everyones stands. If we are to vote in December, I would like to hear what it is that nominees have to offer. We should just lay our cards on the table.

There is one other thing I would like to know. I have received a few different thing through e-mail that has some religious content. Does this club have any religious affiliations? If so, I want nothing to do with it.

As I see it:

First thing, the December meeting is when we will nominate candidates. January will be the election. So we will have time for statements and questions at the December meeting.

Second thing, this will not bring down this chapter. All of us want to do our best for the group. That we do agree on. It is just how it gets done that is up for discussion.

Third, We do not have religious affiliation. The national charity is Feed The Children. It is a Christian Charity, but that does not make us a religious group, just a charitable one. If I am not mistaken we have members of several different religious backgrounds and no controversy over it.

Your thoughts and ideas are welcome, keep posting and keep speaking up. We need everyone to participate.

what I am referring to is that there are comments out there that I am not qualified to be the President, as I do not spend my whole day on this computer. I have other means of being contacted and I am not. I am not looking for anything to be filtered, I am only asking to be so-informed. These comments are being thrown out there and are not necessary. There is no campaign, as you have stated. There are nominees in December and and election in January.

This has never changed. This is part of the Charter and this regulation will always be. Any member can run for the office of President.

We are supposed to be a group of people who have common interest and are a family consisting of oomrardery, not put downs. Put downs are reserved by confersation, by a telephone call or in person, not over the web.
