Ok, but my question was: how do you pronounce it?
It is so difficult to get a straight answer around here!
It must be me.

I''ll tell you what happened - when I signed up for Yahoo groups years ago I was going to make by user name mrsp and my password michzama but I screwed up and the whole thing came out as my user name......I would tell you what michzama means but then I would have to kill you.

MAYBE since there were just over 2 months left in the year anyway,
Pam's term was extended to cover until the end of the
year......Probably if the BOT posted minutes of what they discussed
and decided at their meetings then we'd all be up to speed and know
what's going on.  I learned that the BOT and everything gets changed

Hi Bill,

I'm a little behind in getting to my e-mails......

Let what "rest" ?
I don't understand what you (and maybe other people as well ?) are getting "turned off" about ... people asking questions about how our chapter is being run ? What is going to change if we "let it rest till the end of the year" ? Are we suddenly going to start getting answers to VERY valid questions people might have just because it's a new year ? Or, because we're expecting some kind of leadership change or something ? What if the leadership or BOT doesn't change ? What did we wait for ?

I was unaware we weren't supposed to be asking questions for some reason. Why, because some people get offended if you question their authority or try to make a suggestion on how we may be able to improve certain things within the chapter ? Doesn't sound like a club I want to be a part of ... hopefully, that's not what ours is turning into. Am I wrong ?

I guess I just don't understand some people's philosophy around here but, it's not enough to scare me away .......... not yet anyway.

about our new email lists(s);

We now have some group email lists:
You can send mail to the entire membership (and approved others) by sending
email to all@star240.com.
You can send mail to the BOT by sending email to bot@star240.com.

This is a good way to conduct instant communication for such things as a
pickup ride or whatever. This is helpful when you need instant results and
can't wait for people to see your post in the forum (assuming you did post).

If your email address isn't registered for the list, you will not be able to
post to it (you will get a returned message).

The "all" list currently only contains the email addresses of people who
have sent me mail in the past. If you want to get on this list, send an
email to all-request@star240.com
In the "subject" line put subscribe address=YOURADDRESS (put the red text
only and replace "youraddress" with your real email address)

You will get an email saying it is waiting for approval, then you will get
an email saying welcome to the list. From that point on, you can send mail
to the list.

First, let me say that my intentions are not to stir up another bee's nest here ... I'm tired of that as well.

No, I do not have any specific questions or suggestions at this time. I have had some in the past, which were posted on our "old" forum, god rest it's soul, that were never answered when originally asked and I don't feel the need to re-hash them here.

My response below was referring to Anthony's questions regarding the BOT, which seemed very valid, although of no real interest to me anyway, and then someone responding to him and basically saying shut up until the new year ...? I don't recall hearing about Pam's extension either (and don't have a problem with it at all) and never saw any minutes of the meeting regarding the change. If someone (Anthony in this case) thought the position was open and requested they fill it, not knowing it had been filled, I don't see how this is can be considered innuendo or accusations. Maybe you're referring to other things that have been going on, I don't know, but I just don't see it in this case.

Overall, I think some people, maybe not everyone, just want to be informed and kept up to speed with the inner workings of the club and may have questions every once in a while and would probably expect answers to them as well. Seems that some things are just being taken too personally when they really shouldn't. Not everything is an "accusation" or "innuendo". And, no.... one word or half sentence answers just don't cut it either.

That's my 25cents ... and no, I don't want any change !
Thanks for your quick response and hearing me out.

Hello all,

Have you seen our NEW WEBSITE? Visit http://star240.com and check it out!

Also, check out our NEW FORUM; http://star240.com/forum to keep up with all
our news and events!

I stopped @ Parkway Cycles in Everett on my way home last night to talk with
Bill Henderson and Tony Palumbo about plans for the 30th. Tony had already
left for the day, but Bill & I had some discussion about it. I also spoke
with Paul in Parts.

In keeping with STAR Touring & Riding, Inc.'s MISSION STATEMENT, we are
supporting this event.

STAR Touring and Riding - Mission Statement

"To pursue, promote and protect the interests of motorcyclists; to develop
better and more enthusiastic relations between the general public, the media
and the operators and riders of motorcycles; to encourage rider
participation in events; to promote motorcycle safety and comradaderie among
members; to promote organized events; and in general, perform them in a
lawful manner."

I told them that our Brunch was scheduled that day @ 10AM @ the Hilltop
Steak House, but that we would be glad to stop by and participate in his
'meet, greet, and eat' event. Too much food, you say? HA!

Parkway will have a grill setup and will be providing hot dogs, burgers,
sausages, etc. Their event will run from Noon until about 1:30PM, so we can
all ride over to Boston H-D to participate in the ride.

PLEASE NOTE: I have it on good authority that stragglers (NON-REGISTRANTS)
will not be allowed to join the parade. They will be pulled over and
"detained" until well after the parade has passed. Therefore, I strongly
urge you to register for this event. You have 2 choices; register on the day
of the event and it will cost you $15, or pre-register (until 6PM on the
27th) and it will cost you $10. The cost is PER PERSON, not PER BIKE. I am
going to wait until I see what the weather reports are before I
pre-register.

Here is the info on the Witch Hunt ride occurring on 10/30/05.

They are pre-registering people this year at Boston HD for $10 but you must
do it prior to 6PM on 10/27. Registering the day of the ride will cost you
$15.

Flyer with pre-registration form
http://www.bostonharley.com/custompage2.asp?pg=events

Although costumes are optional, I highly recommend you wear one, it only
adds to the fun.

Please post a reply if you plan on coming.

I believe that this is now the biggest charity run in MA, as far as the # of
bikes involved.

New England's LARGEST Halloween Ride For Charity

Like leaves falling from the trees, the annual Witch Hunt Run to Salem is a
long-standing tradition in Massachusetts that continues to grow in legendary
proportions! Join thousands of riders as they snake through the northeast
cities and towns on their way to the "Witch City" of Salem to benefit
Muscular Dystrophy. A tradition not to be missed! For many, it's the last
"hurrah" in the riding season. Call 617-389-8888 for more info!!.

The biggest ride in New England. Police escort to Pickering Wharf in Salem,
MA.

For those that haven't done this ride before, it is VERY well organized and
a fairly slow, parade like, pace. Tens of thousands of people line the route
to watch all the bikes. It can take an hour or so for all the bikes to pass
one location. The ground trembles, there is a steady roar in the air, kids
and adults have a blast watching all the bikes. The bikes take over downtown
Salem as riders park their bikes and get a bite to eat, something cold (or
hot) to drink, and walk around checking out all the other bikes. Salem will
be in full Halloween mode and you are sure to enjoy yourself.

Registration from 10am to 2pm. Ride leaves at 2pm sharp. $15 registration
fee per person on the day of the ride. There will be FREE refreshments
(coffee & donuts) compliments of Stop & Shop in Everett, and Boston H-D will
be providing a BBQ as well.

Please try to make this event as it promises to be a lot of FUN! This is a
CHAPTER EVENT!

[Pat opined:] I try to answer all questions, Nick.

[Pat opined:] There were other responses as well, which I felt answered his question. His question itself was neither innuendo nor was it an accusation. It was not a decision of the BoT, it was my decision. I made it at the BoT meeting,  which has been discussed. I saw no need to post minutes of that meeting, because the notes were incomplete and we talked about all of it at the last meeting.

[Pat opined:] You're right, but there is a lot of sniping going on. If anyone has a question, they should ask it. It will be answered.

That's my 25cents ... and no, I don't want any change !
[Pat opined:] Do you have change for a dollar?
Thanks for your quick response and hearing me out.
[Pat opined:] Huh? What? ;-)

MAYBE since there were just over 2 months left in the year anyway,
Pam's term was extended to cover until the end of the
year......Probably if the BOT posted minutes of what they discussed
and decided at their meetings then we'd all be up to speed and know
what's going on.  I learned that the BOT and everything gets changed
anyway with the incoming administration.....is that true?    ROXANNE

Chapter Update

October 26, 2005

From National

Greetings Members and Friends!

Have you seen our NEW WEBSITE? Visit http://star240.com and check it out!

Also, check out our NEW FORUM; http://star240.com/forum to keep up with all our news and events!

The following info is from a post on the national site;

We know that there are some of you who may have members in your chapter who have not rec'd their new STAR Membership card. Some of these cards are being processed and may or may not get to your members prior to the Nominations in November and/or the Elections in December. There is a way that ANY member can check on their membership AND they can actually print the info so they have a record of their membership status (including their expiration date) which can be used till they receive their new Membership card.

Any one who is being nominated, elected, or planning to vote in the elections needs to produce documentation that they are a current member of STAR Touring and Riding Association.

Please pass the following info on to all your members BEFORE your November meeting.

1-Go to www.startouring.org
2-Click on Member Login
3-Fill in name and last 8 digits of STAR ID number
4-Click on Submit button
5-The following page should appear on the screen with the member's info. The only difference is that the info will appear in a BOX, rather than the way it appears here as a list.

All your members have to do is print out the info page and bring it to the November & December meetings to show that they are a current STAR member. EVERY member's info page is different, so each member of the family should print out their own page if they are planning to be nominated, are running for office, or planning to vote. It is highly recommended that they do this at least a few weeks before the December Election Mtg, so if there is a problem with their info and/or membership status, they can contact the International office and get things straightened out.

One other important item: Since only a member should be privy to their own STAR ID number, that portion of their information should be blacked out.

My name is BobCatBob, for those who don't know me, or have never met me.
I am the outgoing President of Chapter 291 in Worcester, and outgoing
because of my new role as State Director. I am not being removed, and it
is not a takeover. I have been asked to assist the Massachusetts
Chapters on a National level. I have no desire to interrupt any chapter,
take any sides, or be a favorite of anyone. I enjoy all the people of
Star in all the chapters. The Chapter is defined by the License to
operate. This is not a trial and error organization. As our National
President has stated, The Supreme Court of the USA has determined the
definition of 'Association" as a group of like minded individuals. That
does not mean we remove those who are not clones, or liked by everybody.
Our "like minded" is Riding Motorcycles. We have a license to operate
under the rules stated in the Charter. Pretty simple. There are clauses
for the removal of those who are disruptive, a BOT for such purpose,  a
"Chain of Command", and a procedure for this. I have never said the
President is the final word. The Chapter is. And we do this by voting,
with a majority rule. For the purpose of everyday business, approving
rides and events, ending rides and events, and appointing the BOT, yes,
the president IS the final word. The President and VP are the ONLY
elected positions.  A chapter is not defined by the popular opinions
expressed on the website. I hope you guys can start to have FUN. This
"character Assassination" on the website is really not needed. My role
in all this is only to advise. You guys can fight, or have FUN, your
choice.

President of Chapter 291
Massachusetts State Director

Howdy, all!

Please call my cell phone before you leave on Sunday morning. I will need a headcount for the restaurant so they can setup for us. I’d like to be able to sit together. It’s more fun that way.

Ride after brunch to Parkway Cycles for their BBQ (more food!), and then to Boston H-D for their BBQ (even more food!) and staging for the Witch Hunt Charity Ride.

For those of you who want to watch the ride, Lou Dell’Anno is planning on going ahead to Salem and would welcome you along. Please contact him at CARVERLOU@AOL.COM for more info.

I’d just like to remind you that pre-registration for this ride ended yesterday, and the cost is $15 per person. Details are available here; http://www.bostonharley.com/custompage2.asp?pg=events

Join Johnny Damon, Kevin Millar, Keith Foulke, Fred Smerlas and Steve DeOssie and about 8,000 other motorcyclists on the Biggest and Best Ride in New England! Ride leaves Boston H-D at 2PM SHARP!

See you all Sunday!

OK, it's almost official. The StarBQ will be in NH. As soon as all the proposals are in, and one of them gets picked, we'll announce it. It will be at one of several, but definitely NH. Chapter 291 Worcester will co-sponsor with Chapter 233 Laconia. The lakes, mountains and covered bridges will be nice riding and great FUN. Pretty central for all of New England, and a great destination for our friends from NY and NJ. Perhaps we will get some from Canada this year.

ALL nominations must be announced at the November meetings, and elections made in December. You should all have the letter of intent by now. They want the information, as it is today, filled in and mailed back, as soon as possible, no later than December first. There is a page for the/a new president to fill out and mail back. The new charters will come to the President on that piece of paper. The License to operate expires on December 31st 2005, and the new one, including any presidents, take effect 1/1/06.

Please have a pleasant transition for the sake of the Chapter, if any presidents do not return to office. We joined to have FUN and were elected to Serve. I am stepping aside as Chapter President of 291 and Mike Trippi (Deputy Dawg) is the only nominee. Dawg is one of the original Charter members and helped shape our chapter into what it is today. We welcome the change and wish him well.

This will leave me with more time to help National in Massachusetts. Several new Chapters are in the works, and we are out visiting dealers to tell them of the benefits of having a Star Chapter.

The Grand Opening in Sanford Maine was a big success, and they will soon be starting a new chapter. The event was posted on the regional (now removed for lack of participation) website, and a reminder went out a week before. Those Chapters who were signed on got an email. The support for this new Yamaha Dealer showed, and he was quite impressed by the turnout.

The next big event will be the Christmas Party in Westfield, January 21, 2006. If you don't have tickets yet, contact Mike Desabrais at Chapter 327. Great weather, Get out and Ride.
