Faneuil Hall to the feast...

Thanks, Chris...

This will not be a chapter event, because of the hostility shown towards
Star by the Sheldon's group last year. All are free to choose, however.

Congratulations to all the new members, and expectant members.

I have also been thinking about having a class for road
captain/tailgunner, so let me know about that. I'd be willing to take
and/or teach a class.

Two of our members, Gail & David Riley, also have a class for first
responders; Accident Scene Management.

Let's hope for good weather on Sunday.

Please review and pass along this invitation to other riders on your
list who attended or observed the 6th Annual "Nelson's Ride," on August
28th, and your local North Shore media contacts, to attend our "Wrap Up"
meeting next Monday night in Amesbury, MA.

PC

===============

Date:    September 14, 2005

(Ipswich, MA)    On Monday night, September 19th, the Stage Two Cinema
Pub at 109 Rear Main Street in Amesbury will open and host the 'wrap up'
meeting of the Massachusetts Motorcyclists Survivor's Fund and 6th
Annual Nelson's Ride Planning Committee, beginning at 6:30 and ending by
8:30 p.m. (when the MMSF Board goes into executive session).

All riders, local law enforcement, town officials and the media are
invited to attend this 'wrap up' meeting to hear the final figures of
the largest "Nelson's Ride" event, which took place August 28th out of
the Topsfield Fairgrounds.  Event video's done by Wendell Davis, Jr.,
will be shown on the Cinema Pub's large movie screen.

Attendees are asked to address the MMSF Board and Event Planning Team
Leaders, and tell us, in two minutes or less, what was good about the
Ride and what can be improved upon for next year to make the 7th annual
Nelson's Ride even better!

We rely upon riders' input to help us make improvements.  Nelson's Ride
is an event done by riders for riders.  Your input helps us.

Last year, Ron G. of Saugus had his bike over heat while waiting in the
Registration line.  He told us about it and we think we improved upon
the Registration with the East Coast Biker Chicks and Aces and Eights
Motorcycle Club members handling entry to the event.

Each year, parking and staging areas needed improvement. This year, with
the Christian Motorcycle Association Essex County members, Vince and
Dean, . . . we improved upon parking, staging and exiting.

A few years ago, food was an issue, and we think we've addressed that.

This is your meeting to let us know, what went right and what can be
improved upon, see the video's and friends, and join in the planning for
next year's event.

Monday night, September 19th - 6:30-7:00 socializing, 7:00 SHARP meeting
starts.  Stage Two Cinema Pub, Amesbury (see link below).

Attendance at the meeting is FREE.  Pay as you order appetizers and
beverages will be available.  Donations always accepted.  And if you
have photos of the Ride, bring copies for us to post on the websites!
If you've got an event coming up, bring your flyers!

OK all here is the update. The funeral for Joseph Francis Cook.
Lance Cpl. Joseph Francis Cook Of Foxboro and 11 of his Marine buddies were airlifted to a tiny Vietnamese border outpost in the spring of 1968, only to fall in a desperate battle with North Vietnamese forces.
Cook, 22 years old at the time, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, was among those killed when a border observation camp was attacked and overrun near Ngok Tavak along the Laotian border in western South Vietnam.
The remains of all 12 were just recently identified.
Finally after almost 38 years Joseph Francis Cook will be put to rest on His Home American soil.
Funeral Details:
The services will be held at the Robert's Funeral Home on 30 South St. in Foxboro Mass.
The actual service time will be 10:00am with a small private service for the family inside followed by a service out on the street. The procession will then proceed to the cemetery about 1 1/4 miles away some escorts some marching and walking along with some 4 wheelers. Our wish is to line both sides of the ENTIRE route with bikes and veterans so the time to be there should be around
8:30am. on Saturday. I know that we (Rolling Thunder Ma 1) will be arriving in Foxboro by 7:30 am to assist with the preparation.
If possible send an approx. number of persons attending or call me at 617-435-0653
Thanks to all.

Ok, well I would like to see you renew your membership of course.
If these people that are complaining to you don't complain to me how
could I possibly ever know?
As for last Sunday's ride, I'm still waiting for the poll about the
route home. ;-)
I don't think the general attitude is negative at all, but again if
people are complaining to you and they don't say anything to me how
could I possibly ever know about it? I mean, really, I'm not psychic.
Psycho perhaps, but definitely not psychic. :-)
It isn't fun for you? I'm sorry. I'm having a blast!
Wanna ride tonight? We're going to Revere for ribs!
Wanna go to the BigE to see Los Lonely Boys on Sunday October 2nd?
Wanna go take a ride up the Kankymangleus?
Cheer up buddy...
Talk to ya soon...

I have just posted a ride for this coming Saturday for those who want to
go. It will be a Highway, and a high speed ride, as guests of the
Providence Chapter Leaving ms rt20 at 7:30 to meet them in Seekonk by
9:30. Then it's their trip. Going to the Bourne/Cape Cod Scallop
Festival. $ 15 dinner and entrance fee pp. Not a ride for new riders.
Let me know if you are going to join GG and myself. Good time and ride.

I am going to change the way we communicate; our own forum is
apparently too difficult and confusing for our members, so we will be
using this yahoo group for all of our group communication, calendar,
polls, chat, etc. Every member of Star 240 should register here with
yahoo to get the full use of our group. Full change-over from our own
forum to this group is effective 10/1/2005.

A few other changes are planned as well;

Simplification of the web site; there's way too much info there right now

Meeting changes?

Anything else?

That's exactly what I hope this will be.

Instead of being intimidating to use, this email group is about the
simplest, easiest, best way to keep everyone in the loop.

I had hoped the forum would be put to better use, but it was just too
much for most of us to use.

Take a look around the yahoo site;

Put your info in the database

Add entries to the calendar

Use the chat feature

Upload a photo or two

It's all here, and it's free.

What could be easier?
